Sign up for peaksaver and do yourself and the planet a big favour

PeaksaverWhen you sign up for peaksaver©, your local utility will attach a small device or enhanced ENERGY STAR® programmable thermostat to your central air conditioner. On hot weekday afternoons (but never on weekends or statutory holidays) when power use soars, the utility may signal the device to cycle your air conditioning compressor which may increase your room temperature by a couple of degrees for a few hours (maximum of 4 hours), thereby saving valuable energy. Because your furnace fan continues to run while the compressor cycles, your home won't really feel a lot different, but you will be helping to phase out the use of climate-damaging coal power.

Your air conditioning will not be cycled on weekends or holidays and you can tell your utility if there are days when you do not want your peaksaver to be used (special occasions, etc.). And because you will be participating along with thousands of others, your utility will constantly rotate which peaksaver devices are in use at any one time.
